Behavior Modification of child to become overweight
Limiting Television: you should limit television viewing to about one or two hours each day (this includes playing video games or using the computer). Watching television doesn't use up many calories and it encourages eating unhealthy foods and unhealthy habits.
Healthy Eating Habits: your child should eat three well-balanced meals of average size each day, plus two nutritious snacks. Discourage skipping of meals (especially breakfast).
Snacks: you should limit snacks to two each day and they can include low-calorie foods, such as raw fruits or vegetables. Avoid using high calorie or high fat foods for snacks, especially chips, cookies, etc.
Drinking: you should encourage your child to drink four to six glasses of water each day, especially before meals. Water has no calories and it will help you to feel full. Other drinks can include diet sodas and lowfat milk. Avoid letting your child drink regular soft drinks or fruit juices, as they are high in calories (150-170 calories per serving).
Diet Journal: help your child to keep a weekly journal of food and beverage intake and also of the amount of time that is spent watching television, playing videogames and exercising. You can also record your child's weight each week (but do not weight your child every day).
Healthy Eating Habits
It is not necessary to count calories, but you and your child should become more educated about the foods you eat and how many calories they contain. You should begin to routinely check the nutrition label of the foods that your family is eating. You want to try and eat foods low in calories and also low in fat. Be careful of many low fat or ‘diet foods,' as they can still be high in calories even though they are low in fat.
Also, begin checking the serving size of prepared meals and snacks. A bag of chips might only have 200 calories, but you may be surprised when the serving size is only 10 chips. Eating the whole bag can easily get you over 1000 calories.
Some eating habits that will help your child lose weight include:
Healthy Meals: your child should eat three well-balanced meals of average size each day. Serve fewer fatty foods. It is best to prepare foods that are baked, broiled or steamed, rather than fried. In addition to a small serving of lean meat, provide large servings of vegetables.
Single Servings: Avoid serving seconds of the main course or dessert. You can eat more salad or other vegetables if still hungry.
Desserts: serve fresh fruit as a dessert and avoid frequent eating of ice cream or cake or other high calorie foods.
Grocery shopping: buy low-calorie and lowfat meals, snacks and desserts and buy low fat or skim milk and diet drinks. Avoid buying high calorie desserts or snacks, such as snack chips, regular soft drinks or regular ice cream.
Eat at the table: Avoid letting your child eat meals or snacks outside of the kitchen or dining room. And no eating while watching TV.
Avoid Fast Food: you should limit how often you allow your children to eat fast food, as it is usually high in fat and calories

Sprouting and safety
There have been a few recent news stories regarding salmonella contamination in sprouts. These have been combined with warnings from the Food and Drug Administration that sprouts could be contaminated with food poisoning bacteria and advising the very old, the very young, and those with compromised immune systems to avoid raw sprouts.
Most people knowledgeable in sprouting feel that these stories were far overblown because it made interesting news - it's the original "health food might be bad for you" story.
Use certified organic seeds. Organic certification assures that seeds have been grown and handled in a manner which helps minimize possible sources of contamination. Manure used on organic fields, for example, must be composted for a long period of time. Composting has been shown to reduce or eliminate pathogens in manure. Organic farmers are also required to use rodent/bird proof storage for seeds destined for consumption. Organic sprouting seeds have NOT been implicated in any outbreak of food poisoning.
Also refrigerate finished sprouts. Ideally you want to eat them right after you pick them. Those sprouts are still growing in your plate! Now that's "Fresh"!
Happy sprouting
Why we eat sprouts?
With the current economic crisis, not to mention the fact that so much of our food supply is contaminated with pesticides and pollutants, it's nice to know you can grow your own sprouts in your home and become more self-sufficient.
Sprouting at home takes only a few moments a day and can produce a good portion of your daily requirements of the nutrients you need from fresh produce. The hassles are minor, the costs are low, and the freshness is wonderful. It is a very effective way to add raw foods to your diet. If you can supply a jar, some screen or netting, and rinse the sprouts twice a day, you can grow delicious organic sprouts in 4 to 6 days, even less time depending on your setup.
Growing your own sprouts means having fresh organic vegetables every day from a square foot of counter space. Common seeds for sprouting include alfalfa, fenugreek, peas, lentils, radish and red clover. Mung beans have been sprouted in Asia for thousands of years, but they require more equipment and time than other seeds. Other seeds include broccoli, cabbage, mustard seed, garbanzos, and quinoa.
Importance of Sleep
A hot bath before bed lowers Blood Pressure and helps sleep better.
Skin absorbs the therapeutic ingredients of cosmetics better during sleep.
Fill a herbal pillow with dried lavender, roses, cloves, citrus, khus and other herbs to get a refreshing sleep.
Choose a mattress that supports the spine. A bed that is too hard or too soft will tire out your body.
Loss of sleep increases blood sugar levels, which is risky for diabetes

Calorie Guide and Exercise Routine
Counting Calories
1. Determining your calorie needs isn't a one-size-fits-all magic number, according to Baylor College of Medicine. Calorie consumption depends on your height, age and activity level. For example, if you are a woman who is 30 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, you need to consume 2,043 calories each day to maintain your current weight, according to Baylor College of Medicine. If you want to lose weight.
2. Portion control can help you cut out hundreds of calories each day. Try pre-measuring portions into small zipper bags to reduce the chances of overeating. Reduce overeating at restaurants by asking your server to box up half of your entree when the food arrives. Also, avoid calorie-dense foods such as ice cream, fried chips or sugary beverages. Instead, choose low-fat yogurt, baked chips and calorie-free beverages. Even cutting out a high-fat coffee beverage each day can trim hundreds of calories each week.
How to Protect Against Germs Outside the Home
It is easy to wipe out germs inside the protective walls of the home, the problem comes when venturing outside. The germ war becomes an entirely different thing outside. The problem is the public use of everything from shopping carts to door handles. These items become germ waiting points, just waiting for a host
Instructions
1. Leave the house fully prepared for germs. Keep some form of germ killer on your person. This can be hand sanitizer hand sanitizer or wipes, but keep them handy and ready to use in an instant. Also, put sanitizer on the hands right before going into the public place
2. Watch the things that are touched. If possible, wipe off the shopping cart before using it. Use a paper towel to place on the door handle before opening it. Push the door open with your backside inside the hand. All these things will help in keeping germs away.
3. Avoid unnecessary touching of items. Avoid constantly picking things up. Look at them on the shelf without touching the item.
4 Never touch your nose, mouth or face while in a public place. Germs will jump on the hand and head straight to the body.
5 Give that greeter a nod or verbal greeting. Avoid shaking hands as germs love jumping from hand to hand contact.
6. Bring your pen. Avoid using the pen that is just sitting there, touched by hundreds and filled with germs.
7 Wash hands ASAP when arriving home. Even when sanitizer is used, go right to the sink and get out the soap and hot water.
Tips of Good Health Habits
2. Drink lots of water throughout the day, the more the better. A good amount to aim for is at least four to six glasses per day. In fact drinking a glass of water when you first get out of bed in the morning is an excellent way to get a jumpstart on your day.
3. Variety is the spice of life- Get into a habit of eating a variety of different foods with your meals, just make sure that at least five servings are fruits and vegetables.
4. Eat plenty of lean, high protein foods in your daily diet such as lean meat, fish, chicken and beans. Stay away from salted and processed meats. Also eat grains, whether they be in the form of wholegrain cereal, breads etc. Grains provide the body with fiber, iron and B vitamins and are therefore a necessity.
5. Milk is more than just delicious; it is very good for you.
6. Some foods, such as potatoes and cheese often get a bad rap as being extremely fattening. Perhaps it is a reputation they do not deserve because “everything in moderation” is a good rule of thumb to live by.
7. Beware of excessive intakes of caffeine. Avoid coffee, soft drinks and chocolate. It can cause dehydration.
8. Take vitamins on a regular basis.
9. Adopting the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle-Vegetarians and vegans even more so, need to supplement their diets with vitamins to replace what they no longer receive from specific kinds of foods.
10. Dieting can be dangerous.
Good Health Habits
Good health is of prime importance to all of us. Stay home if you have a respiratory infection when possible. Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps you can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Avoid contact with people who are sick. Tips of Eye Care for Computer users
With so many of us spending lots of time in front of the computer every day it comes to no surprise that research is showing a rise in visual problems. What can one do? First, it’s important to find out how you can protect your eyes through eye health exams and by making a few minor changes in your computer viewing habits.
Following are helpful Eye Care Tips -
Positioning is everything
Correct positioning of your computer, keyboard and typing copy is essential. Your screen should be positioned about an arm’s length from your eyes and 20 degrees below eye level. Consider foot and wrist rests for added comfort.
Lighting can make all the difference
Room lighting should be diffuse, not direct, to reduce glare and reflections from your screen. Look into an internal or external glare screen and be sure to set your colour, contrast and brightness levels to suit you.
A little extra help for your glasses
Anti-reflective coatings on the lenses of your glasses can be applied by your optometrist to reduce discomfort and to ease reduced vision from bright and/or flickering light sources such as VDTs and fluorescent lights. And don’t forget, your doctor of optometry can talk to you about eyeglasses designed specifically for people who use computers a lot.
Take time out
Step I :-After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn yourhead and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. Thischanges the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.
Step II :-Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.
Step III :-Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutesof sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.
It’s all in the blinking
Did you know that on average we blink 12 times per minute? But wait, did you know that when we’re on the computer we only blink 5 times per minute? That can add up to dry eyes. Relieve the discomfort by using artificial tear drops or gels and remember to blink!
Palming
Sit straight at your workstation and rub your palms against each other till you feel them warm. The warmth of your palms helps soothe and relax tired eyes. Then, lightly cup your eyes with your palms and relax for 60 seconds. Count the seconds in your mind. Repeat this exercise two to three times whenever your eyes feel tired, or as often as you want. While palming, you can either rest your elbows on your desk or keep away from the desk and cup your eyes. Both ways are fine.
Splash water on your face
During breaks, splash water on your face while closing your eyes. This has an overall relaxing effect and helps you feel refreshed.
Use tea bags
Keep two used tea bags in the refrigerator before you leave for work. Once you are home, place the tea bags on your eyes for a few minutes as you relax. This not only soothes tired eyes, but also reduces puffiness.
Eat healthy
Incorporate Vitamins A, C, and E on a daily basis; eat citrus fruits, green leafy veggies, tomatoes, spinach, poultry and dairy products. Pack a box of chopped carrots, cucumber and fresh fruits and munch in-between meals at the office.
Eye Care Tips
- Take A vitamin diet to make eyes brighter. (papaya, eggs, fish, milk, cilantro etc.,) Wash eyes with cold water to get sparkling eyes.
- Put sliced cucumber over your eyes to treat dark cicles.
- Put potato slices on your eye to get rid off those dark circles.
- Soak amla overnight in water and use this water the next morning to wash the eyes.
- Soak cotton in Luke warm milk and cover eyes with it for 15 min.
- To soothe tired eyes, dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on closed eyes for 10 minutes. Now relax completely.
- To completely relax the eyes and the surrounding muscles, close your eyes and think of something that is pleasant or soothing and at a distance. Now gently open your eyes and look into the distance. Next focus on an object at arm's length. Do this extremely relaxing exercise four or five times a day.
- If your eye twitches, or your eyes are red and feeling itchy, massage your scalp with curd.
Soak 1 tsp. dry amla in one cup of water overnight. Next morning strain it through a muslin cloth and then add one extra cup of water. Splash your eyes with this solution each morning. This makes your eyes sparkle. - For Puffy Eyes: Grate a potato with its peel and apply on your closed eyelids for about 20 minutes and relax completely. You may even take a nap.
- Wash your face before sleeping, and ensure that there is no make-up on your face before you sleep, because, make-up creams may spoil your face as it will be there for the whole night. It is better if no cream is applied. What I feel is, wash your face before sleeping and if at all you want to apply any cream, just apply night cream and none other than that.

Normal oil production
Normal size on pores
Normal thickness
Even, soft complexion
2. Greasy/Oily Skin:Oily Skin produces excessive sebum, oily skin contains too many fatty secretions. The skin shines, has open pores and tends to have blackheads or acne. The skin requires thorough but gentle cleansing. Medicinal skin care can reduce spots and pimples. Oily creams are not suitable for this skin type.

Pure Water - A Necessity For Life
While every health and wellness expert will agree on the importance of "healthy water," most have different opinions on its definition and source. But the fact is that it's no longer an opinion. There's now enough scientific data on the subject for a logical and reasonable conclusion.
The healthiest water doesn't come from your tap, it doesn't come in a bottle, it doesn't come from distillation or reverse osmosisit comes from "selective filtration."
Many have switched to bottled water under the false assumption that its purity is assured to be better than tap. The truth is that bottled water is only required to be "as good as" tap not better. And the federal guidelines that govern bottled water quality only apply if water is transported across state lines. Most bottled water is bottled and sold within the same state in order to avoid regulation. It's an industry full of deception. Bottled water is currently the fastest-growing and most profitable segment of the entire beverage industry.
The old school of thought was that distilled and reverse osmosis water were the healthiest; this is also now known to be untrue. Both of these methods were designed over 40 years ago for industrial purposes as they are "demineralizing" processes. Once you strip the trace minerals from water, the pH drops and the water becomes aggressive. Water, by nature, will always seek to balance its pH. If we consume de-mineralized water, it will pull minerals from our body to seek that balance. And neither of these processes are very effective at removing synthetic organic chemicals, since all SOCs are molecularly smaller and vaporize at lower temperatures than water.
The most recent and effective technologies for truly healthy water are "selective filtration" systems that can distinguish between contaminants and trace minerals. They are also the most convenient and economical.
Better Drinking Habits
We are exposed to far more toxins than ever before; our water is literally a chemical soup, EPA records show that so far more than 2,100 cancer-causing chemicals have been detected in U.S. water supplies. There are over 80,000 toxic chemicals currently used in America and over 1,000 new ones being developed every year, and for most of these chemicals, we don't know the long-term risks of exposure, or the effects of combined exposure. What happens when we get 10 or 20 or 50 traces of different synthetic chemicals together in the same glass of water? Unfortunately, we're learning more and more every day the hard way.
What to do?The first step is train you to drink more water, and there are a lot of good ways to do that. Use a bigger glass: instead of the old rule of eight 8-ounce glasses a day, drink eight 12-ounce glasses a day. The old rule of eight 8-ounce glasses a day for 64 ounces total was first published in medical journals 70 years ago before we had the level of exposure that we have today before we had pesticide residue on our foods and traces of thousands of synthetic chemicals in our water and air. Our bodies will use 64 ounces of water just for the basics each day: temperature control, skin hydration, digestion, energy production. In order for our bodies to be able to detox, to flush out the toxins that make their way in, we have to drink more water than that minimum level and the more we drink, the more we allow our bodies to purify themselves. Drink 10-12 glasses a day at a minimum! Store your water in glass it looks better, it tastes better and it's better for you, and you'll naturally drink more!
Increasing the quantity and quality of the water we drink is probably one of the most important health enhancement steps we can make!

How to keep your mind cool
Whether you are 25 or 75, it's always a good time to think about ways to keep your mind healthy. People with strong minds live a richer and more fulfilling life. The following list incorporates plenty of mental, physical, and nutritional ways to keep your mind sharp throughout your lifetime.
Following some points that find great ideas you can start.
1. Use your brain. There is a lot of knowledge up there, so put it into action. Doing tasks such as thinking through problems or avoiding the calculator for simple arithmetic is one way to exercise your mind.
2. Crosswords. If you get the newspaper, work the crossword puzzles each day. They usually get progressively more difficult as the week goes on, culminating in the most challenging puzzle on Sunday. If you don't get the newspaper, you can find many free crossword puzzles online.
